November 11, 2007 We had watched this tree over the summer drop its leaves, its branches becoming skinny sticks against the sky. We had hoped our friend would recover. But with autumn's arrival, it became obvious that it would not be able to stand through the winter. I watched as it was cut down and hauled away, with only this stump left as a reminder of all the years it had grown on this patch of the earth. |

Where I Stand is an ongoing photo essay examining the different places I spend my life standing. Too often we take for granted the everyday places we spend our lives walking on. The ground we tread on has its own stories to tell.
A new photo is posted every Sunday on my blog.
