Putting Shattered Lives Back Together...Ami Simms
Artist statement: Like so many of us, Ami Simms' mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. Like many of us, she has cared for her mother with loving devotion. But Ami did more. She organized an exhibit of 52 art quilts that has traveled for over two years and is booked for several more years to travel. She produced a CD and a book of the exhibit. Ami came up with more ideas on how to educate, console and raise money for research. To date, over 2000 small quilts have been made and sold/auctioned to raise $500,000 for research. She is a superwoman who has involved thousands of quilters/artists in the cause to stop this terrible disease. |
