"Honey" for Dr. Bernice Reagon Johnson

Artist statement: "Bernice Johnson Reagon has been a major cultural voice for freedom and justice; singing, teaching--speaking out against racism and organized inequities of all kinds." This is a quote from her biography.

She is a founding member of "Sweet Honey in The Rock", an a capella group that addresses issues of civil rights and social injustice through song. I first saw "Sweet Honey In the Rock" in 1982 at Spellman College and was mesmerized by their voices and dedication to
raising awareness through song.
