Save the Children...Save the World
Artist statement: This quilt honors Save the Children, a nonprofit relief and development organization founded in 1932. Originally focused on easing he effects of the Great Depression on the people of Harlan County, Kentucky, SCF now operates in 45 countries as well as the U.S. They work with families to define problems in a manner that will ensure future self-sufficiency. I have been a supporter of SCF since 1968 because I believe that the possibility of peace in the world is contingent on improving the health and living conditions of the people of the world. |
