Mennonite Central Committee

Artist statement: Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is the international relief and development agency for historic peace churches such as the Church of the Brethren, Amish and the Mennonite Church.

I wanted to represent the work of MCC as it reaches out to the various aspects of people's lives, including health care, education, microeconomics, agriculture and fair trade (through Ten Thousand Villages). I used fabrics from Africa, Australia, and South America as well as batiks from the international focus of MMC.

I am deeply grateful for MCC's work for justice, peace, and reconciliation, especially in countries of war or communities in deep conflict.
