Artist statement: On August 29, 2005, the Mississippi Gulf Coast cried out for help, and the world answered us "With One Voice." People around the globe watched as Hurricane Katrina slammed ashore and changed our people and our state forever.

To every individual, group and organization that responded, we offer our heartfelt thanks. Friends, neighbors, governments, churches, military, organized and disorganized groups and complete strangers mobilized for us and with us, to begin the long and arduous rebuilding process. For those who have remained by our side as we struggle to overcome unimagined obstacles, you have our undying gratitude. For the food, water, medical care, physical labor, building supplies and, most of all,
hope that you brought us.

We owe you a debt that can never be repaid.
